River is an amphibious aquatic dragon who spends most, if not all of her time in or near the water. She lives a life of solitude and is the apex predator (and only known dragon) in her domain. Her lithe body is built for swimming; even her "wings" function as fins. They allow for quick and dexterous movement through the water, but offer no lift or means of propulsion through the air.

River's diet consists mainly of fish, though her favorite treat is oysters--shell, pearl, and all--the calcium rich components of which help keep her teeth and claws strong. As a side effect, after large meals of oyster, parts of her body may appear pearlescent (mane, claws, and patches of scales).

Though she is completely unaware, River has a subconscious connection with Ink , a creature from a wholly separate universe. The two share a mental link wherein River can sometimes receive bursts of Ink's emotion, seemingly out of nowhere. This leads River to be a bit moody and mercurial, as she is sometimes onset with boughs of strong feelings she does not understand, nor have any ability to control.

It is rumored that during especially powerful emotional episodes--particularly ones of anger, rage, or frustration--River has been able to call the very tides themselves and command the form of water around her.
